After a far too cold winter on the East coast, I am really looking forward to May. Let’s face it, the long April thaw and spring-time showers are always the pits.
Soaking wet and super happy! Sure Gene…Sure…
A few weeks ago, I was out pounding the pavement in NYC and was nearly blown over sideways by a storm that turned my flimsy DuaneReade umbrella inside out and gifted me a very unwelcome bill for a dry-cleaners that broke my suit-buttons in a less than adequate cleaning and pressing job. Needless to say, I’ve had a case of the April grumps. May seems like a great month to eat my feelings and jump on the summer-happy-train.

Because it is my birthday in ten days, I am currently planning to eat my way to happiness on May 13th with a giant, multi-layered, mound of spoungey, creamy, deliciousness. This means that I have ten days to pick a cake, and become an icing expert. Doable? If Hillary can make 18 miiiiiiiiiiillion ity bity wity cracks in that ceiling, I think I can certainly pull this off.
These cakes are my favorites pulled from the instagram and blogosphere (from top left to bottom right: meganleevoigt, frlklein, bakegourmetoficial, untagged, passthesushi, milkbarstore, caralaurynmoloney, johnwhaitebakes, and cakeblog)
Here are five other things (in addition to my birthday) I am looking forward to in May:
5. New glasses: That’s right, I’m a nerd. . .
These are currently the front runners: “HOLT” by WarbyParker
4. Allergy Medicine. Thank god.

3. Mother’s Day. Because…well…labor!

2. Pick your own strawberry season. Can.Not.Wait! List of locations by state coming in the next few weeks.
“I pick my nose AND strawberries too!”
1. California: Surprise! It looks like I might pick up and head West. San Francisco Prepare thyself!
